The Netherlands will host the Global Commission on Adaptation (GCA) Climate Adaption Summit in January 2021, marking GCA's Year of Action (2020).
Following the UN Climate Action Summit on 23 September 2019, convened by UN Secretary General António Guterres to meet the climate challenge, the GCA will begin its Year of Action. The GCA Year of Action will:
The Netherlands initiated the Commission to share its knowledge on how it has managed to adopt innovative water management solutions as sea levels rise. The GCA was launched in The Hague, the Netherlands, in October 2018 by the eighth UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with the mandate to encourage the development of measures to manage the effects of climate change through technology, planning and investment.
