International Conference on Climate Action (ICCA2015)

1 October 2015 - 2 October 2015
Hanover, Germany

The International Conference on Climate Action: Local Governments Driving Transformation (ICCA2015) will highlight municipalities’ strategic role in mitigating and adapting to climate change. The conference will be an opportunity for local governments to share successful measures they have implemented to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

To facilitate knowledge exchange, 18 workshops will be presented under the following clusters: change agents; governance; finance; infrastructure, adaptation, urban development; ecosystems; and networks and groups.

The conference will highlight local contributions towards low-carbon, sustainable urban development, showcasing best practices through keynote presentations, roundtables and a number of panels during the ‘Climate Neighbourhoods’ portion of the conference. ‘Climate Neighbourhoods’ will look at the international nature of climate change, in both its devastating effects and its potential to spark cooperation. Projects from a range of actors, including youth, will be on display through various media, such as movies and theater. In addition, the conference will celebrate the contribution of local initiatives to low-carbon development through an award ceremony.
