Resilience 2017 will discuss resilience as a key lens for biosphere-based sustainability science. It will reflect back on the scientific progress made, and aim to set out exciting future directions for research.

Consistent with the need for more cross-sectoral interactions among the various stakeholders working in the field of climate change adaptation in coastal areas and communities, the aims of the "Symposium on Climate Change Impacts and Adaption Strategies in Coastal Communities" are:

The Environment, Conflict and Cooperation (ECC) exhibition visualizes the dramatic and growing impact of global environmental change. It demonstrates how climate change can threaten the security of the Pacific region, and showcases how climate, environment and sustainable development cooperation can contribute to stability and peace. It is hosted by UNSW in Canberra and Sydney.

The theme of ECCA 2017 is "Our Climate Ready Future". The vision is that this conference will inspire and enable people to work together to discover and deliver positive climate adaptation solutions that can strengthen society, revitalise local economies and enhance the environment. We will bring together the people who will deliver action on the ground – from business, industry, NGOs, local government and communities – to share knowledge, ideas and experience with researchers and policymakers.

Over millennia, warfare, environmental degradation, and social inequality have brought much suffering to humankind. In an effort to facilitate interdisciplinary cross-fertilization, WESIPS brings together a cadre of internationally recognized scholars to address the underlying causes of warfare, environmental degradation, the advent of social complexity, and social inequality from a host of interdisciplinary and theoretical perspectives.

How do we shift and scale up the financing needed to turn the ambitions of the Paris Agreement into reality? Nearly all countries are committed to implementing their national climate strategies or NDCs as a part of the Paris Agreement on climate change. According to the World Bank Group, the investment needs embedded in these plans amount to US$23 trillion in emerging markets alone, representing a significant opportunity to grow the global economy.

The world is witnessing an unprecedented rise in the number of people fleeing wars and conflicts. Turkey being in the midst of this phenomenon, the 4th Istanbul International Water Forum (IIWF) will address the impacts of the current refugee crisis on water.

Convened by ICLEI and hosted by the City of Bonn, Resilient Cities is the global meeting point for exchange of best practices in urban resilience and adaptation to climate change.

The Climateurope Festival 2017 offers a varied 2½ day programme of lectures, discussions, networking and performances to explore the state-of-the-art of climate information, and its uses and value in decision-making at both the European and national levels.

A key Festival objective this year is to discuss the advantages and challenges that climate services face with the water sector, natural reserve, and agriculture and food security. Transforming climate information through services for societal and commercial success is of top importance.
