The World Economic Forum is a foundation based in Cologny, Geneva (Switzerland). It is mainly known for the annual meeting in Davos where leading economists, politicians, journalists and experts meet to discuss global questions such as economic development, health and environment.

Transforming Transportation is the annual conference co-hosted by the World Bank and EMBARQ, the urban mobility initiative of WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. The event convenes leading transport and urban development experts from national and local governments, multilateral development banks, foundations, civil society, research institutions, and businesses from around the world.

The 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Summit will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Global Forum on Migration and Development is an initiative of United Nations Member States to address the migration and development interconnections in practical and action-oriented ways. It is an informal, non-binding, voluntary and government-led process that marks the culmination of more than a decade of international dialogue on the growing importance of the linkages between migration and development.  

The 2016 Nairobi Conference on Earth System Governance: “Confronting Complexity and Inequality” is the seventh annual conference organised by the Earth System Governance Project. It should provide a lively forum to hundreds of scholars for joint discussions, the exchange of new insights, and the examination of the core ideas that underlie earth system governance and global sustainability.

The thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 13), the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP/MOP 8), and the second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (COP/MOP 2) will be held concurrently. A High-Level Segment will take place from 2-3 December.

Manipal University is organising a thematic seminar series on “Environmental Security in India” in November 2016, under the auspices of the Climate Diplomacy initiative supported by the German Federal Foreign Office. As a part of the ongoing efforts to build the University’s research and development base in environmental studies and climate change, it seeks to establish synergies between fundamental research in natural (physical) sciences, engineering, security and policy, especially in the environmental and climate policy domains.

As the human dimensions of climate change are expected to be central dimensions of COP22, the conference will address the case of the increasingly numerous people displaced as a result of environmental disruptions, many of them related to climate change. For this, the conference will gather the research, policy and advocacy communities together one last time before COP22.

The UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) will be the third in a series that began in 1976. It brings together diverse urban actors such as governments, local authorities, civil society, the private sector, academic institutions and other interest groups to generate a renewed political commitment to sustainable urban development and a “New Urban Agenda” for the 21^st century.

The Climate Chance summit aims at bringing together all non-state actors involved in the fight against climate change, involving local authorities, associations, trade unions, scientific organisations and citizens. Taking place just a few weeks before Habitat III and the COP22, the summit aims to develop new common messages from non-state actors to strengthen commitment for climate action.
