The 9th Africa Carbon Forum (ACF) will focus on how engagement between State and non‐State actors can be further strengthened in the key sectors for Africa (energy, agriculture and human settlements), including the role of future carbon markets to achieve enhanced climate action, towards the goals of sustainable development.

The theme of ECCA 2017 is "Our Climate Ready Future". The vision is that this conference will inspire and enable people to work together to discover and deliver positive climate adaptation solutions that can strengthen society, revitalise local economies and enhance the environment. We will bring together the people who will deliver action on the ground – from business, industry, NGOs, local government and communities – to share knowledge, ideas and experience with researchers and policymakers.

Over millennia, warfare, environmental degradation, and social inequality have brought much suffering to humankind. In an effort to facilitate interdisciplinary cross-fertilization, WESIPS brings together a cadre of internationally recognized scholars to address the underlying causes of warfare, environmental degradation, the advent of social complexity, and social inequality from a host of interdisciplinary and theoretical perspectives.

How do we shift and scale up the financing needed to turn the ambitions of the Paris Agreement into reality? Nearly all countries are committed to implementing their national climate strategies or NDCs as a part of the Paris Agreement on climate change. According to the World Bank Group, the investment needs embedded in these plans amount to US$23 trillion in emerging markets alone, representing a significant opportunity to grow the global economy.

The world is witnessing an unprecedented rise in the number of people fleeing wars and conflicts. Turkey being in the midst of this phenomenon, the 4th Istanbul International Water Forum (IIWF) will address the impacts of the current refugee crisis on water.

Convened by ICLEI and hosted by the City of Bonn, Resilient Cities is the global meeting point for exchange of best practices in urban resilience and adaptation to climate change.

This 4-day event will explore ‪these issues through a series of films, events and art works and consider these important questions: Who will be affected and when? What are the experiences of people forced to move? Who, ultimately, is responsible and what should be done? 

The complexity of climate change means that appropriate approaches, methods and tools to communicate the problem and its various ramifications are urgently needed.

The “World Symposium on Climate Change Communication” will focus on “communicating climate change across society”, hence providing a platform for reflections on climate change communication research and practice.

From February 17 to 19, 2017, the 53rd edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) will bring together hundreds of decision-makers in the realm of international security at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. Under the chairmanship of Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, more than 500 participants will debate critical security challenges, including the troubling state of the international order and the rise of illiberalism around the world.
