The World Economic Forum is a foundation based in Cologny, Geneva (Switzerland). It is mainly known for the annual meeting in Davos where leading economists, politicians, journalists and experts meet to discuss global questions such as economic development, health and environment.
From 14-15 January 2017, the seventh session of the Assembly of IRENA will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. At its sixth session, the Assembly designated Italy as President of its seventh session and the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Jordan, and Morocco as Vice-Presidents.
Transforming Transportation is the annual conference co-hosted by the World Bank and EMBARQ, the urban mobility initiative of WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. The 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Summit will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Global Forum on Migration and Development is an initiative of United Nations Member States to address the migration and development interconnections in practical and action-oriented ways. It is an informal, non-binding, voluntary and government-led process that marks the culmination of more than a decade of international dialogue on the growing importance of the linkages between migration and development.
This meeting will discuss, plan and provide guidance to the implementation of activities on the water-food-energy-ecosystems nexus under the programme of work for 2016-2018 of the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention). More specifically, it will: review the status of ongoing basin assessments; discuss possible follow-up actions to assessments already undertaken; and reflect on knowledge gaps and strategic directions for future nexus work under the Water Convention.
The 2016 Nairobi Conference on Earth System Governance: “Confronting Complexity and Inequality” is the seventh annual conference organised by the Earth System Governance Project. It should provide a lively forum to hundreds of scholars for joint discussions, the exchange of new insights, and the examination of the core ideas that underlie earth system governance and global sustainability.
The thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 13), the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP/MOP 8), and the second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (COP/MOP 2) will be held concurrently. A High-Level Segment will take place from 2-3 December.
On 17 and 18 November The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam will host the Hanoi Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade, an international conference that will bring together global leaders to help eradicate illegal wildlife trade and better protect wild species from the threat of extinction.
From 7-18 November 2016, adelphi’s experts on climate diplomacy, climate resilience, local climate action, and more, were in Marrakech for the COP22 discussions and key side-events. As the human dimensions of climate change are expected to be central dimensions of COP22, the conference will address the case of the increasingly numerous people displaced as a result of environmental disruptions, many of them related to climate change. For this, the conference will gather the research, policy and advocacy communities together one last time before COP22.

The UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) will be the third in a series that began in 1976. It brings together diverse urban actors such as governments, local authorities, civil society, the private sector, academic institutions and other interest groups to generate a renewed political commitment to sustainable urban development and a “New Urban Agenda” for the 21st century.

Under Western Skies (UWS) is a biennial, interdisciplinary conference series on the environment. The fourth conference organizers invite prospective researchers, authors, artists, and presenters to consider submitting proposals for oral and poster presentations as well as workshops and panels.
The Climate Chance summit aims at bringing together all non-state actors involved in the fight against climate change, involving local authorities, associations, trade unions, scientific organisations and citizens. Taking place just a few weeks before Habitat III and the COP22, the summit aims to develop new common messages from non-state actors to strengthen commitment for climate action.

2015 was a banner year for international commitments to address climate change. However, as countries take steps to implement National Adaptation Plans and cut emissions, policymakers and practitioners may find themselves grappling with the unintended consequences of climate action. How climate responses are developed and implemented could increase the vulnerability of populations and contribute to political instability.

The online course "Climate Change Diplomacy: Negotiating Effectively under the UNFCCC" aims at enhancing the participants' understanding of the global climate change policy framework. It includes modules on the science, causes and impacts of climate change, climate change mitigation and adaptation, the history of the policy making process and the UNFCCC framework, and the follow-up of COP21 and future climate agreements.
Climate Week NYC is an annual event which is convened by The Climate Group. It brings together influential business and government leaders who are leading the low carbon transition. There will be events, activities and high-profile meetings across NYC, as well as other climate events in support of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement.
