Climate Adaptation Summit 2021

At the online international Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) 2021 on 25 and 26 January, hosted by the Netherlands, global leaders will launch a comprehensive Adaptation Action Agenda. It will set out clear commitments to deliver concrete new endeavours and partnerships to make our world more resilient to the effects of climate change.

In this SIWI World Water Week workshop organised by adelphi and IHE Delft, experts from the diplomacy, development, security, climate change and water communities discussed the conditions under which specific diplomatic tools can be used by riparian and non-riparian countries to shape regional cooperation to address climate, and other security and development challenges, such as migration.

High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2020

The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will convene the 2020 session of the HLPF from Tuesday, 7 July, to Thursday, 16 July 2020. Following the first five-days, the HLPF's three-day ministerial segment takes place jointly with ECOSOC's high-level segment from Tuesday-Thursday, 14-16 July 2020. The ECOSOC high-level segment concludes on 17 July 2020.

IHE Delft is organising the symposium 'From Capacity Development to Implementation Science' on May 26-29, 2020. This is its 6th international symposium on knowledge and capacity development for the water sector, in cooperation with the OECD, Rand Water and other partners. In light of the Coronavirus situation, the event has been moved online.

Climate change poses a growing security risk in Central Asia and Afghanistan, where it has a particularly severe impact on glaciers and natural resources such as water, land and soil. As part of a preventive and stabilising foreign policy, the Federal Foreign Office launched Green Central Asia, a regional initiative on climate and security in the region on 28 January 2020.

African Climate Risks Conference 2019

Africa is vulnerable to natural variations in climate and human-induced climate change. Adapting to these impacts is key to achieving Africa’s development targets, and requires a coordinated and synergistic approach from a diverse range of actors across sectors, as well as better understanding of the drivers of risk and vulnerability. The African Climate Risks Conference (ACRC) is an open platform for sharing the latest African climate research among researchers, policy makers, practitioners and development partners.

European Sustainable Development Week 2019
