The aim of the event is to present and discuss a new essay series on the relevance of SDGs to foreign and security policy. In launching this series, we seek to underline the importance of using the SDGs to achieve core foreign policy objectives and engage in a dialogue with foreign policy practitioners on their role in delivering sound practices. 

The European External Action Service, in partnership with adelphi and the Planetary Security Initiative, will host a side-event at COP24 aimed at tracking international progress in addressing climate-related security risks, as well as raising awareness on climate security among the COP community.

Chile's rich environment has been increasingly suffering under extreme weather events and contamination. Climate mitigation and adaptation plans throughout the world can help curb this trend, and 2nd Climate Week Chile seeks to gather these initiatives under one roop to discuss and exchange.

Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2018 is designed to advance regional climate action. The ultimate aim of APCW 2018 is to support implementation of countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement on climate change and action to deliver on the SDGs.

The European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) is an initiative to facilitate the organization of activities that promote sustainable development across Europe. On this occasion, 10 embassies in Berlin, Germany, are engaging with the 2030 Agenda on the theme "Diplomacy for Sustainability" and organising innovative events around the SDGs.

The 2nd Global Adaptation Network Forum addresses some of the most pressing challenges for climate change adaptation. It provides an opportunity for decision makers, policy experts and practitioners to share knowledge and experiences on how to address these challenges. 

Climate-related risks are increasingly recognised as a key factor – and at times a key driver – of human insecurity and even conflict. Understanding the linkages between climate and security is essential for decision-makers and practitioners to develop and implement risk-reducing, conflict preventive and sustainable policies and approaches to climate-related risks. The Planetary Security Initiative (PSI) is the institutional home of these efforts.

From 6-17 November 2017, adelphi’s experts on climate diplomacy, climate resilience, local climate action, and more, are in Bonn for the COP23 discussions and key side events. In cooperation with the EU, the German Federal Foreign Office, the Planetary Security Initiative and other partners, adelphi convenes and is involved in several side events, of which three revolve around climate diplomacy.

The growing mobilization of non-state actors, particularly since COP22 in Marrakech, shows that the reinforcement and progress of concrete actions taking place in territories are indeed essential to meet the objectives of the fight against climate change. It is against this background that the next edition of the Climate Chance World Summit, the annual gathering of climate actors, will take place. adelphi will be co-hosting a side-event.
