The Kigali amendment - seeking to reduce climate-damaging HFCs - is considered a diplomatic victory. In fulfilling its pledge, India’s cooling sector has a crucial role to play. The Indian government hence seeks to cooperate with the EU to learn from their experiences, in order to advance the country’s green cooling efforts.

In this interview, Peter Fischer from the German Federal Foreign Office, reports how the G7 integrate climate into their analysis of future conflicts, fragility and instability. Taking a critical stance, he stresses that one has to consider the full conflict cycle and possible priorities for future G7 activities related to climate and security.

This interview was conducted at the Planetary Security Conference in The Hague, 5-6 December 2016.

adelphi

adelphi will hold four roundtables in major European cities to better understand the future landscape of climate diplomacy in a time where populists agitate against the globalized world – be it migration, the free flow of goods, of information, or institutions of international cooperation.

We have to work together as an "ecosystem" in order to prevent dangerous consequences of climate change, ensure security, and address climate-related migration. Michael Rademaker, Deputy Director of The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, in this video stresses why collaboration at the climate-security interface is urgently needed. Recorded in The Hague at the Planetary Security Conference 2016 from 5-6 December.

The Indian military could be an instrumental player and leading force in India’s climate change strategy on domestic and international fronts. Dhanasree Jayaram analyses its traditional functions and newfound responsibilities towards the environment. The example of the Ecological Task Force, the world’s first ecological battalion, shows how the military could be involved in successful climate action.
