Climate change and migration in bangladesh: a gender perspective. UN Women

This publication by UN Women is part of the project 'Reducing Vulnerability of Women Affected by Climate Change through Viable Livelihood Options', which explores the impacts of migration on women caused by climate change-related phenomena. The study focuses on the challenges women face after their male family members migrate. It finds that already practiced discrimination of women is exacerbated in times of male migration.

Nevertheless, it is highlighted that migration is a both negative and positive adaptive response to the impacts of climate change. With predictions of increasing effects on Bangladesh, the report calls thus for decisive policy efforts to support migrants and their family members.
